These FAQ provide high-level answers to common questions about our Take Back program. All participation in the Take Back program is subject to the program terms. Please see program terms for complete details.
General Program
Take Back is our way of helping our customers let go of their steel and stainless steel Stanley products when the time is right. Return your eligible used products to us, and we'll make sure their steel and stainless steel components are recycled responsibly.
As our way of saying thanks, for each eligible Stanley product you recycle, you get a $5 credit to use on a future purchase at Stanley1913.com (up to four per year and subject to complete Take Back program terms). We’ll also make a $5 donation to Ocean Conservancy for each item recycled – up to a maximum of $200,000 per year. Nice!
Every Stanley product is Built for Life and comes with a full warranty. But sometimes, life changes. You might have different hobbies or need cabinet space and really want that new tumbler.

Take Back is only available in the Continental United States. (The emissions profile of individual shipments from Alaska and Hawaii would exceed that of local disposal.) But we hope to add more regions in the future.

ELIGIBLE ITEMS
Take Back accepts all Stanley products in which the main product body is steel or stainless steel. And we’ll say it because this is a FAQ, after all: the return must include the product body.
We aren’t able to accept non-Stanley products, non-steel products (such as hard and soft coolers), accessories, and partial items. Find out more here.
If it's still usable, consider donating or gifting to a friend. You can also check online for recycling options in your area.
We love that you’re asking. You can send in a max of 4 eligible items each calendar year, and receive a $5 Stanley1913.com discount code for each, up to $20 in discount codes per calendar year total. (Note that discount codes cannot be combined.)
Your Stanley tumblers, bottles and more, are highly personal and can live a rough life! Yes, any condition is ok so long as we can identify it as an eligible Stanley product, but please make sure it is clean and empty, and leave any hazardous materials out.
We love our boots, straws and lids, too! Some of these are reusable across other Stanley products, so keep them if you like. If sent in along with an eligible product, we will attempt to responsibly dispose of the accessories.
Unfortunately, we are unable send back any ineligible items to you.
RECYCLING INFORMATION
We like that you’re ready to go. Step one: create an account at Stanley1913.com or log into your account if you already have one. Next, learn more about recycling your Stanley product.
This is one of our favorite parts! Once we receive your item, it is disassembled at our recycling partner’s US facility. The parts and materials are sorted and eligible steel or stainless steel components are sent to be recycled. (We’ll also make an attempt to responsibly dispose of non-steel accessories.)
Who knows what it will become next? We bet it will be something great.
SHIPPING INFORMATION
When completing the recycling return submission form online, you’ll have a few choices:
Option 1: Shipping’s on us. Package your eligible Stanley product, print out and affix the shipping label to the box. Drop it off at any USPS drop location.
Option 2: Use one of our handy drop points. You don’t need to package it or print a label. Just bring the eligible Stanley product with your QR code to any of our partner drop points and we'll handle the rest. You can show the QR code on your phone, or print it out.
You’re making a great choice by recycling, so shipping is on us.
If you are shipping your Stanley product to us, your return label can be used for up to 30 days. If it has been more than 30 days, you will need to complete the return process again.
Dropping off with a QR code? There is no time limit and your QR code will remain functional while the Take Back program is open – but the sooner you drop off, the sooner you get your $5 discount!

DISCOUNT CODES
We love that you are recycling your Stanley product. As a reward and thanks, you’ll receive a $5 Stanley1913.com discount code for each eligible item you send to us through the program (up to four per year and subject to complete Take Back program terms). We’ll also make a $5 donation to Ocean Conservancy for each eligible item – up to a maximum of $200,000 per year.

Once we receive your soon-to-be recycled Stanley product and make sure it’s eligible for the program (and that you’re within the four-per-year maximum), you should receive your $5 discount code within 2-3 weeks. When available, you can access them by logging into your profile on Stanley1913.com. Then, it’s shopping time.
Once you receive your discount code, you’ve got plenty of time — 90 days —to use the code and find your next Stanley product at Stanley1913.com.
You can use up to four unexpired codes per purchase. When you recycle multiple items, you get to save on more Stanley1913.com purchases!
